The 2019 iGEM Thessaly team presented its Synthetic Biology research project on fighting the Tuberculosis epidemic, for the upcoming iGEM Competition.

Kriton Kalantidis, Professor at the Department of Biology of the University of Crete, introduced the audience on the world of RNA silencing in plants.

On the second OMIC Webinar we welcomed Christos Batianis, PhD Candidate at the Laboratory of Systems and Synthetic Biology of the Wageningen University. His speech focused on principles and current challenges of metabolic engineering.

Dr. Ioannis Economidis, European Commission Scientific Officer, introduced the audience on bioethics and biosecurity issues that emerge from Synthetic Biology research.

The 2nd General Assembly focused on reviewing the work carried out during the last year of the project and discussions were developed concerning the future steps.

Victor de Lorenzo, Professor of Molecular Environmental Microbiology at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, introduced the audience a range of Synthetic Biology tools utilized on chassis microorganisms Pseudomonas putida KT2440.
